Assisted Areas
Assisted Areas are the most economically disadvantaged areas where regional aid for economic development may be granted under European Community Law. The current Assisted Areas map for the UK, approved by the European Commission, remains in force from January 2007 to 31 December 2013.
Innovation Grants
Grants connected to the Regional Innovation Fund, including such schemes as SMART, SPUR and SPURplus and Regional Innovation Grants.
Specialist Support Grants
Specialist Support offers a mechanism to help businesses seeking consultancy support to grow and develop. Offering typically up to 50% of the consultancy costs, Specialist Support allows business to purchase direct from the open market the consultancy support required to meet the particular needs of their business.
Most businesses in Wales are eligible for Specialist Support. However, each application is assessed on its own merits and support will be offered based on the quality of the project, value for money and the potential impact on the economy.
The Specialist Support programme is funded jointly by the National Assembly for Wales (NAFW) and the European Union (EU), and managed by the Enterprise Innovation and Networks department of the NAFW.
